Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the Vantara animal rescue and rehabilitation center in Jamnagar on Sunday during his three-day visit to Gujarat. PM Modi also toured the facility, a vast wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation facility that houses over 1.5 lakh rescued, endangered, and threatened animals from over 2,000 species
During the visit, PM Modi gained an understanding of the facility's all-encompassing approach to treating wildlife.
Advanced Wildlife Hospital at Vantara
PM Modi saw the cutting-edge veterinary care offered at the state-of-the-art wildlife hospital, which has MRI, CT, and intensive care unit facilities. The facility also has specialized departments for internal medicine, cardiology, nephrology, endoscopy, dentistry, and wildlife anesthesia. PM Modi’s Heartwarming Moments at Vantara
During his visit, the prime minister had several touching encounters with the center's resident animals. He nursed and played with Asiatic Lion cubs, a White Lion cub that was born at Vantara after its mother was rescued, and a rare Clouded Leopard cub. The center's Caracal breeding program, which is essential to the survival of this dwindling species, was also explained to him.
Recognizing Vantara’s Wildlife Protection Efforts
PM Modi's tour of Vantara demonstrated the facility's dedication to emulating natural environments, which is demonstrated by the spacious enclosures. He engaged with magnificent animals such as Snow Leopards, Golden Tigers, and four Snow Tiger brothers who had been saved from a circus. Aside from petting an Okapi, having a walk among zebras, and feeding a giraffe, and a rhino calf that was left an orphan when her mother passed away at the institution, he also spent time with rescued chimps, a playful orangutan, and a submerged crocodile. In addition, he spotted a two-headed turtle, a big python, and a rare two-headed snake.
Focus on Elephant Welfare
The Prime Minister also saw elephants using hydrotherapy pools to treat arthritis and foot problems, highlighting Vantara’s commitment to animal care. He visited the world’s largest elephant hospital and watched the release of rescued parrots back into the wild.
PM Modi's tour came to an end with conversations with the committed physicians, employees, and workers that run Vantara. His visit demonstrated India's dedication to preserving its natural heritage by highlighting Vantara's vital role in wildlife protection.
