One of the largest anti-government protests broke out in Egypt on 25 January 2011 demanding the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak and more employment opportunities. Tahrir Square is the epicentre of protests against the government. Hosni Mubarak is the president of Egypt for the last 30 years. It is alleged that he wants his son Gamal to succeed him despite popular opposition. Hosni Mubarak didn’t allow emergence of any viable alternative to him. Constitutional amendments adopted in 2005 have made it almost impossible for independents like Mahmoud ElBaradei to contest the Presidential election in Egypt. The Presidential elections in Egypt are bound to take place in 2011.
