Vishwanath Tripathi, eminent Hindi writer on 29 May 2014 was awarded with the prestigious Vyas Samman for the year 2013. The literary prize carries a citation and a cash amount of 2.5 lakh rupees and memento. He received the award for his work Vyomkesh Darvesh at 23rd edition of the annual ceremony.
About the Vyas Samman
• The award was instituted in 1991 by the K K Birla Foundation. It is presented for an outstanding literary work in Hindi published during the last 10 years.
• Ram Vilas Sharma was the first person to receive the award for his Bharat ke Pracheen bhasha parivar aur Hindi in 1991.
• Narendra Kohli received for his novel Na Bhooto Na Bhavishyati in 2012 and Ramdarash Misra for his collection of poems Aam K Patte in 2011.
