1. (c) 10,900 crore

The Union Cabinet has approved the PM E-Drive Scheme, under which a provision of Rs 10,900 crore has been made in the next two years. The aim of this scheme is to make electric vehicles more accessible and strengthen the charging infrastructure. Under this scheme, a subsidy of Rs 3,679 crore will be given for battery-operated two and three-wheelers, ambulances, trucks and other emerging EVs.

2. (d) Maharashtra

Recently the Governor of Maharashtra C.P. Radhakrishnan said that a tribal university with 80 per cent reservation for students from tribal communities will be established in Nashik. The Governor met local representatives of various political parties during his Nashik visit.

Senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury (Sitaram Yechury Passes Away) passed away at the age of 72. Sitaram Yechury started his journey in CPM as a student leader about 50 years ago.  He was the general secretary of the party from 2005 to 2015 and held the post for three consecutive terms. Yechury also played an important role in coalition formation for the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in 2004.

Many important decisions were taken in the 54th GST Council meeting chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. During the meeting, the GST rate on cancer drugs was reduced from 12% to 5%. Apart from this, the GST rate on salty and savory food items has also been reduced from 18% to 12%.

Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has been unanimously re-elected as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Official Language Committee. After the formation of the new government, a meeting was held in New Delhi to reconstitute the Parliamentary Official Language Committee, where the Home Minister was elected as its Chairman.

6. (b) Rajiv Ranjan Singh

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh will launch the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samriddhi Scheme and release Standard Operating Procedure on production and processing clusters in the fisheries sector. At the same time, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana has emerged as a game-changer, which is taking India's fisheries sector towards unprecedented growth and sustainability.

7. (c) Uttar Pradesh

PM Modi inaugurated Semicon India 2024 in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This three-day event is dedicated to the semiconductor ecosystem. According to a report by Invest India, the Indian semiconductor market, currently valued at around $23.2 billion, is projected to reach $80.3 billion by 2028.

President Draupadi Murmu presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards for the year 2024 to nursing professionals at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This time the award was given to 15 nurses for their commitment towards duty and service. This award was started in the year 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.        

9. (d) Sri Lanka

India's Shubhi Gupta won gold in the girls' under-16 category and bronze in the girls' under-20 category at the recently concluded Commonwealth Chess Championship in Kalutara, Sri Lanka. Shubhi had earlier won the under-12 gold medal in the Commonwealth Youth Chess Championship.

10. (d) Croatia

The Ministry of External Affairs has recently appointed retired IAS officer Arun Goyal as the next Ambassador of India to Croatia. Prior to this, he was working as the Election Commissioner of India. He was appointed Election Commissioner in November 2022. He was a 1985 batch IAS officer of Punjab cadre.
