Indian Premier League (IPL) has beaten coronavirus to be India's most-searched word on Google in the year 2020, as per Google India's 'Year in Search' results released on December 9, 2020.

The top trending personality in India in 2020 was US President-Elect Joe Biden, followed by Arnab Goswami, Kanika Kapoor, Kim Jong Un and Amitabh Bachchan.

Mount Everest's new height is 8848.86 metres, 0.86 cms more than the previous measurement. The new height was announced jointly by Nepal and China on December 8, 2020. The old height of Mt Everest was 8.848 metres.

4.(d) Raj Kamal Jha
Indian journalist-author Raj Kamal Jha has been honoured with the Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2020 for his novel, The City and The Sea. The book's publisher Peter Bundalo made the announcement on December 9, 2020.

Breakdance, also popularly known as breaking, is set to make its Olympic debut at the Paris 2024 Games. Breakdancing will be the first DanceSport event to appear at the Olympic Games. The sport was staged at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires two years ago.

The World Economic Forum (WEF 2021) will be moved from Davos in Switzerland to Singapore due to COVID-19 concerns. The forum will now convene the Special Annual Meeting 2021 in Singapore from May 13-16, 2021.

Indian-origin global health expert Anil Soni i has been appointed as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the newly launched WHO Foundation. Soni will assume his new role from January 1, 2021.

China successfully activated its nuclear-powered ‘Artificial Sun’-HL-2M Tokamak reactor- for the first time on December 4, 2020. The reactor was switched for a brief test. It is called an "artificial Sun" because of the enormous heat and power it produces.

Morocco has become the fourth Arab nation to normalise relations with Israel under a deal brokered with the help of the United States this year, after the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan. Overall, Morocco is the sixth nation to recognise Israel, the first were Egypt and Jordan.
