The voting has begun for the sixth phase of West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021. The polling began at 7 am and will conclude at 6 pm.
Under this phase, 43 constituencies across four districts of the state have gone to polls and there are as many as 306 candidates including 27 women in the fray.

Key Highlights
•The polling is being held in 43 constituencies across four districts of West Bengal including 17 in North 24 Parganas district, nine in Uttar Dinajpur, nine in Nadia and eight in Purba Bardhaman.
•There are over 1.03 crore voters in these constituencies including 50.65 lakh women and 256 of the third gender.
Around 14,480 polling stations have been set up under this sixth phase.

•The BJP and TMC are contesting on all 43 seats. The Congress along with the Left parties and the Indian Secular Front are jointly contesting under the banner of Samyukta Morcha.
•While the Congress is contesting on 12 seats, CPI(M) is contested on 23, All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) on 4 and CPI on two seats.
•The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has also fielded 37 candidates.
Background
The polling for the first five-phase phases of the state assembly elections took place on March 27, April 1, April 6, April 10, and April 17 respectively.
The West Bengal Assembly Elections are taking place in eight phases. The polling for the seventh and eighth phases will be held on April 26 and 29 respectively while the result will be declared on May 2, 2021.
