Battle of Ghaghra
Although the battle of Khanwa had established Babur as the undisputed emperor of Delhi, he had yet to fight the remaining Afghan chiefs. The prominent among them was Muhammad Lodi, who was the younger brother of Ibrahim Lodi.
In 1529, the battle of Ghaghra was fought between Muhammad Lodi and Babur. Muhammad Lodi was aided by the sultan of Bengal Nusrat Shah. Babur again turned victorious and it consolidated his power in India.
Death of Babur
On 26 December, 1530 Babur died in his palace of Agra due to heavy drinking. He was 47 years old at the time of his death. He was buried in Kabul, a place chosen by himself for his burial.
Initially he was buried in Agra against his wishes. But later on he was buried in Bagh-e Babur Garden in Afghanistan.
Babur’s legacy
• The kingdom founded by Babur later on developed into the largest empire in India.
• He founded a new dynasty known as Mughal dynasty.
