The nodal organization and prime hauler for driving IT augmentation and accomplishment of IT plans in Chhattisgarh is CHiPS, a Registered Society endorsed by the Government. The Chief Minister leads the High Powered Governing Council of CHiPS. It comprises of the Minister for Finance and Commercial Taxes, Minister for Education, Minister for Commerce and Industry, Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Chief Secretary, well-known persons from IT industry and a representative from the Ministry of Information Technology in Government of India.
CHiPS is implicated in execution of some mega IT Projects such as e - Gram Suraj, CHOiCE, e - Procurement, e - Treasury, SWAN, GIS and Bhuiyan. A specialized approach is being implemented for the execution of IT Projects using the services of e - governance authorities and consultants from academia and corporates.
Chhattisgarh State with comprehensive socio-economic differences is now observing the ongoing Information Technology upheaval. Chhattisgarh government visions ‘Vikas mool mantra Aadhar loktantra’ that is, Driving Development through Democratic Governance and considers Information and Communication Technology is a chiefly important medium for Chhattisgarh in reaching out and improving livelihoods particularly for its irresistible ST / SC population across 44 percent forest area, which had mainly remained intact by modern development.
An awe-inspiring quantity of this population is reliant upon forest and agriculture for their fundamental livelihood. Regardless of noteworthy holdups of inadequate access to market related information, government schemes, monsoon forecasts, information on contemporary farming practices, etc forest and agriculture add considerably to the State’s proceeds. Chhattisgarh government seeks to generate an IT milieu in Chhattisgarh wherein investments in Information Technology are not only encouraged but vigorously assisted.
Chhattisgarh is insistently taking steps in carrying out capacity building trainings for its government workers. A system of incentives would be brought up to stimulate all Government employees to become computer expert, Hardware supplies are being constricted with an obligatory article on adjustment of employees in the operations.
