The Mangroves are the tropical trees or shrubs bearing fruit that germinates while still on the tree and having numerous prop roots that eventually form an impenetrable mass and are important in land building. They are halophytes and adapt life in harsh coastal conditions because they contain a complex salt filtration system and complex root system to cope with salt water immersion and wave action.

Mangroves Forests are basically evergreen land plants growing on sheltered shores, typically on tidal flats, deltas, estuaries, bays, creeks and the barriers islands. The best locations are where abundant silt is brought down by rivers or on the backshore of accreting sandy beaches.
