China continued their stranglehold over the Paralympic medal standings, with their dominance reinforced by an astonishing haul of 62 gold alongside 46 silver and 27 bronze medals. Their incredible total of 135 medals cemented their place at number one.
Great Britain closely followed in second, having collected 33 gold, 25 silver and 16 bronze for a commendable sum of 74 medals. Consistently strong showings have kept them firmly amongst the elite nations over numerous Games.
Ranked third were the United States, boasting an admirably balanced returns of 25 gold, 26 silver and 12 bronze for a complete medal count of 63. Success across the full spectrum highlighted their versatility and strength in depth.
Claiming a disproportionately lofty place of fourth despite relatively few medals through the compelling force of their 16 golds, 7 silvers and 5 bronzes for a total of 28, the Netherlands exemplified the power of gold.
As hosts, France occupied the fifth slot with 15 gold, 17 silver and 18 bronze for 50 medals in total. Both intrinsic talent and the stimulus of home support were reflected in their creditable showing.
Climbing to 13th, India continued progress on the world stage through notable achievements including 5 golds, 9 silvers and 10 bronzes for 24 medals. Particularly encouraging were the advances evident in the silver and bronze categories.
