Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on 14 June 2026, arrived in Slovakia’s Bratislava in the second leg of his two-nation European visit. PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Slovakia from 14 June to 16 June 2026. This visit marks the historic first-ever visit by an Indian PM to Slovakia since its independence in 1993. This visit aims to explore new avenues to deepen India-Slovakia relations.
In a post on X, PM Modi shared that he looks forward to productive meetings with President Pellegrini and Prime Minister Fico. A statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said PM Modi’s visit follows President Droupadi Murmu’s State visit to Slovakia in April 2025. Slovakia’s President Pellegrini visited India for the AI Impact Summit in February 2026.

PM Modi was received with a warm welcome of Slovakia’s tradition of bread and salt, followed by folk music and dance performances. In one of the performances, the Lucnica Ensemble sang Vande Mataram. PM Modi posted the video of the performance on X. PM Modi was also greeted by the Indian community in Slovakia.

PM Modi’s visit to Slovakia will reaffirm India’s commitment towards strengthening its bilateral relationship with Slovakia in various sectors, including trade, investment, and automobile and railway manufacturing.
A briefing by MEA on PM Modi’s visit to the Slovak Republic highlighted that PM Modi will also interact with Slovak business leaders along with Slovakia’s PM to deepen economic engagement, boost investment flows, and expand cooperation across important sectors, including transportation, renewable energy, emerging technology, and defence production.
