Who Are the Permanent Members of the UNSC?

The five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) are: China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. There are a total of 15 members in the council. Five are permanently elected, but the remaining 10 members are elected by the UN General Assembly. These non-permanent members have two years term in the United Security Council.

This rotating system assists in providing other countries of the world a voice in world matters.

The following are the 10 members of the UNSC for the year 2026. The non-permanent members are selected for a 2 year term.

Denmark, Greece, Panama, Somalia and Pakistan have their membership till December 31, 2026. Bahrain, Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Latvia, Liberia have the non-permanent membership till 31st December, 2027.
