Vivek Joshi, who was born on May 21, 1966, is a renowed Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer belonging to the 1989 batch of the Haryana cadre. Education Qualifications
Joshi's educational qualifications are outstanding. He achieved a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from India's high profile Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. Prior to his recent posting as Election Commissioner, he was the Chief Secretary of Haryana, a post he took over in November 2024 upon the retirement of T.V.S.N. Prasad. His return to Haryana was made possible by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, which cleared his repatriation from central deputation on the state government's request.
Between January 2019 and his return to Haryana, Joshi served in a number of important central-level positions, including:
