As per the census 2011, out of the entire population of the state, West Bengal 31.87% people reside in urban areas.

As per the census 2011, out of the entire population of the state, West Bengal 31.87% people reside in urban areas. 29,093,002 people out of the total population live in urban area in which the number of males is 14,964,082 and females are 14,964,082.

 In Urban areas, the sex ratio was 944 females per 1000 males. The total number of children between 0-6 years living in urban areas was 2,760,756. 9.49 % were children (0-6) of the total population in urban areas. 

 For urban areas in West Bengal, the average Literacy rate was 84.78 %. The males were 88.37% literate and females at 76.01%.  West Bengal, total literates in urban region were 22,324,502.
