On April 18, Meta introduced the world with its most capable Large Language Model (LLM), named Meta Llama 3. An image generator is also what the company unveiled which updates images in real-time just when the user simply types the prompt. Meta is aiming to integrate the latest model into Meta AI, its virtual assistant.
Interestingly, Meta claims its latest models to be the most sophisticated of all AI models with respects to capabilities and performance. Soon, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram will integrate the updated Meta AI assistant. Moreover, a standalone Meta AI website is also expected.
Let us understand a bit about the Llama 3 model by Meta.
What we know about Llama 3 so far
The Large Language Model Meta AI or Llama is actually one of the LLMs brought forward by Meta AI last year in the month of February. The very first version of the model came in four distinct sizes, namely 7B, 13B, 33B, and lastly, the 65 billion parameters. It is to be noted that parameters refer to a measure of the complexity and size of an AI model. This simply means that a large number of parameters of an AI model signify greater complexity and power. It is interesting to note that the GPT-3 of OpenAI was actually outperformed by Llama's 13B model.
It was last year only when Llama 2 was released by Meta in the month of July. It was released in 7B, 13B, and 70B parameters. The Llama 2 was actually trained on 40 percent more data as compared to any of its predecessors.
It is claimed that Llama 3 is the most sophisticated AI model with outstanding progress in areas of AI capabilities and performance. The Llama 3 comes in two distinct sizes, the 8B and the 70B parameters. Both of these sizes actually have a bade model along with an instruction-tuned version. This version actually powers AI chatbots to converse with the users.
The company says that it has built the best open-source models with Llama 3.
All the Llama 3 models actually support about 8,000 tokens of context length. This makes complex input handling and more interactions possible.
Talking about safety, Meta says that it is actually dedicated to developing Llama 3 in a responsible manner.
