Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit has been appointed as the New Air Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force. The Government of India announced his appointment on October 6, 2026. 

Currently, he is serving as Vice Chief of the Air Staff, and he will succeed Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, and he will take the charge as the 29th Chief of the Air Staff with the rank of Air Chief Marshal on October 31, 2026.

Who Is Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit?

Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit is a senior fighter pilot of the Indian Air Force for the nearly four decades of his service experience.

He was born on December 9, 1966 and joined the Indian Air Force on December 6, 1986

Before he was appointed as the New Air Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force, he serving as Vice Chief of the Air Staff, and he was also part of many important operation and strategic positions, including Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Air Command, and Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff.

Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit will officially take charge as the Chief of the Air Staff on the afternoon of October 31, 2026. 

From this date, he will be promoted to the rank of Air Chief Marshal. The present Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, will superannuate from office on the same day.
