The 96th Oscars ceremony was a delightful event. However, not many people know the Indian connection with the Oscars this time. Yes, the showrunner and the executive producer of the event was a Canadian live television event producer but was born in Delhi, India. Yes, we are talking about Raj Kapoor. The executive producer of the show was Katy Mullan and the director of the show was Hamish Hamilton.

A special moment for Raj Kapoor

Raj Kapoor comes from Canada and holds a South Asian descent. Kapoor expressed that this was nothing less than a "pinch-me" moment for him. It was also a proud moment for Mullan as well, who belongs from London and grew up enjoying the Oscars. The production team of the Oscars this year was declared in the month of October last year.

Bill Kramer, the CEO, and Janet Yang, the President, of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the team. While announcing the team, they expressed that Hamish Hamilton and Raj Kapoor have proven to be incredible Oscar collaborators. They expressed their delight in welcoming the two and Katy Mullan to lead the Oscars of 2024. "Their deep love of cinema, fresh vision, and tremendous live television expertise is perfect for our reinvigorated show.” said the CEO and the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Knowing Raj Kapoor better

Raj Kapoor is a graduate of the University of Alberta situated in Canada. Kapoor studied Drama and English at the University. It has been 24 long years for which Raj Kapoor has been in the business of producing shows.

Last year, an Oscars news release expressed that Kapoor had successfully earned a total of six Emmy Award nominations. He has also won for executive producing  ‘Adele: One Night Only’. The news release further said that Raj Kapoor has successfully worked on the show for the last seven long years. Moreover, the man also became the producer for the 95th Oscars.

The credits of the man include the ACM Awards, the Grammy Awards, Norman Lear: 100 Years of Music and Laughter, the Latin Grammys, and more, as stated by the news release.
