The 2024 iteration of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024), also known as TATA WPL 2024, marked the league's second season. Organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), this women's franchise Twenty20 cricket league showcased the talents of five competing teams. The tournament commenced on the 23rd of February at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, culminating in the grand finale held on the 17th of March, 2024, at the esteemed Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

RCB women’s team won the WPL 2024.  Royal Challengers Bangalore clinched their first Women's Premier League title with a resounding victory over Delhi Capitals, led by Smriti Mandhana, securing an 8-wicket win at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The triumph in the WPL 2024 served as a momentous gift for the fervent RCB supporters, who have passionately backed the men's team throughout the Indian Premier League journey.

Conversely, for the followers of Delhi Capitals, it marked a second consecutive heartbreak, following their previous disappointment in the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League.

Ellyse Perry of Royal Challengers Bangalore won the orange cap in the 2024 WPL as she emerged as the leading run-scorer in the Women's Premier League 2024, amassing an impressive total of 341 runs across nine matches. With a remarkable average of 69.4, Perry's stellar performance earned her the prestigious orange cap in the tournament.

Shreyanka Patil of RCB secured the coveted purple cap in the Women's Premier League 2024, claiming the highest number of wickets. Her exceptional performance was highlighted by a crucial 4-wicket haul in the final match, pivotal in RCB's triumphant journey to lift their inaugural title.

WPL 2024 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Winner

Deepti Sharma won the MVP award for her all-round performance in the tournament.  Sharma was sensational through and through with both bat and ball scoring 295 runs at an average of 98.33 and taking 10 wickets at an average of 21.70. 

She etched her name in women's cricket history during the clash against Delhi, achieving a remarkable feat as the first woman to notch both a fifty and a hat-trick in a single T20 game. Beginning the tournament from the No.8 position, she showcased her prowess by ascending to No.3 against Delhi, crafting a resilient innings of 59 runs on a challenging pitch.

Demonstrating her all-around capabilities, Sharma's bowling prowess shone as she claimed impressive figures of 4-19, instrumental in guiding the Warriorz to defend a total of 138 against Delhi successfully. Throughout the season, Sharma consistently sparkled with standout performances, leaving an indelible mark on almost every game, whether with the bat or the ball. In a stellar display across her last three appearances, she amassed an impressive tally of 200 runs and scalped seven wickets, cementing her status as a pivotal figure in the tournament.

WPL 2024: Player of the final

Sophie Molineux was declared the player for her superb bowling spell. She took 3 wickets including the crucial wicket of Shafali Verma who was running amock in the early stages of the game. Molineux leaked just 20 runs in the allotted 4 overs.
