The inaugural major women's Twenty20 competition in India commenced modestly as a single-match tournament in 2018. Evolving swiftly, it expanded into a three-team, three-match competition in subsequent years, notably in 2019, 2020, and 2022, marking significant growth and development within the realm of women's cricket in the nation.
RCB won the second edition defeating Delhi Capitals in the final of WPL 2024.

Sophie Ecclestone also took 16 wickets but missed out as Hayley had a better economy rate(5.94) and more 3 wicket hauls(4). Joining them in the upper echelons of bowling excellence were Issy Wong, Amelia Kerr, and Saika Ishaque, each claiming 15 wickets apiece, solidifying their positions among the top five wicket-takers of the season.
