Madhya Pradesh state government is all set to begin the MBBS programme in Hindi in Bhopal's Gandhi Medical College from the next academic session onwards. The announcement was made by Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang who further added that MP will become the first state to offer the MBBS programme in Hindi.
Committee forms to decide on course plan
The minister, when speaking to the media further stated that directives have been issued to start the MBBS Course in Bhopal's Gandhi Medical College in Hindi from the next academic session which will commence in two months. A 14 member committee headed by Medical Education Director Dr. Jiten Shikla has been formed to prepare the work plan for the MBBS Hindi Curriculum.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had earlier made an announcement regarding teaching MBBS and other medical courses to students in Hindi after which the department took steps for the same. An official from the state Public Relations Department stated that the minister had talked to subject experts a few days ago to get books prepared in Hindi for the first-year MBBS students in the presence of Atal Bihari Hindi University and Gandhi Medical College functionaries. Lectures will also be delivered in Hindi, the department official further added.
The shift will be in phases. The first phase will have students who opted for Hindi as the medium of instruction taught in Hindi and English for two months each following which steps will be taken after assessment. The second phase will have supplementary books for Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry.
