The Bihar government has announced new restrictions and guidelines amidst the increasing COVID-19 cases in the state. Keeping in mind the vaccination drive for children and the increasing cases, the state government has announced the closure of all the schools in the state until class 8. Offline classes will be permitted for students from classes 9 to 12 only.
New Guidelines issued
When announcing the fresh guidelines, the state government has decided to implement a statewide night curfew and shut all the schools until Class 9 and pre-schools. The orders will be implemented from January 6, 2022, and schools will be closed until January 21, 2022.
The offline classes for the students from class 9 to 12 are permitted but with only 50 percent capacity while the online classes will resume for the students from class 1 to 8. According to an official statement released the pre-school and class 1 to 8 students will be attending online classes and educational institutions will continue with the offline classes for the students from class 9 to 12 at 50 percent capacity.
Along with Bihar other states which have closed down the schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic include Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, West Bengal, etc
Night Curfew Imposed
The notification released further states that night curfew will be imposed across the state from 10 PM to 5 AM and religious places and other places of gathering including malls, clubs, swimming pools, stadiums, gyms, parks, etc will also remain closed until January 21, 2022.
Schools in Patna were shut down earlier this week due to the extreme cold weather. Cases in the state have continued to rise which is a cause of concern for the state and although the number is relatively less the increase in cases has been rapid.
Close to 344 new COVID cases were reported by the state which has taken the total number of active cases in Bihar to roughly 1400.
