Educational institutions in Karnataka advised to adopt hybrid mode with rising COVID cases

Karnataka Educational Institutions have been asked to adopt a hybrid mode of teaching considering the rising cases of COVID cluster cases in the state and fear of the new virus variant - Omicron. Both schools and colleges have been asked to implement the order after a COVID review meeting was conducted by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. The order issued has further instructed all the students and staff members of educational institutions to follow the COVID protocols.

Avoid social and cultural events

The order issued also stated that all social and cultural events that require physical attendance of people must be either cancelled or postponed for a minimum of two months. It must also be ensured that a majority of activities are carried out in the virtual mode. 

According to the official order released, all social and cultural events in educational institutions may be postponed for two months. Conferences, seminars, academic events, etc in educational institutions may also be postponed or conducted in hybrid mode with minimal physical attendance.

Karnataka schools, colleges recently started experiencing relaxation in the COVID-19 restrictions with educational institutions being allowed to reopen in phases after being closed for more than a year.

News of the new variant Omicron has been put on alert with increased restrictions so that any possible spread of the infection can be avoided. 

Karnataka recently reopened the schools for primary classes in November 2021. Attendance was not compulsory and the option of continuing with online classes was also available.
