In order to facilitate centralized and transparent admissions into government colleges, the government established the GCAS (Gujarat centralized Admission System) portal, which is currently used for the admissions process for colleges under government-run universities throughout Gujarat.
However, some colleges have confused parents by giving students an offline process.
In response, a clear direction was issued by the Commissioner of Schools: offline admissions will not be allowed. All universities are required to use the GCAS portal for the admissions process, and they have been cautioned not to misinform or perplex parents.
Gujarat centralized Admission System: Key Details
Here's the information related to the GCAS given in a table below:
Category | Number/Count | Details |
Students Registered on GCAS | > 2.10 lakh | Total registrations on the GCAS portal |
UG Seats Available | 66,000+ | Total undergraduate seats available |

Strict Action to Prevent Offline Admissions
All admissions must be made entirely via the GCAS portal, per a strict regulation from the Commissioner of Schools. Colleges are cautioned against deceiving parents and are expressly prohibited from handling offline admissions. The commissioner underlined that following the established procedure is required. Strict action will be taken against any school found to be in violation of these rules, guaranteeing the fairness and transparency of the admissions process and avoiding applicant confusion.
