The Himachal Pradesh education department has announced holidays for schools in Una district from June 1 to 30 in view of the scorching heat during summer, officials said on Tuesday. According to the department, the summer break will be divided into two periods: June and August.
All Una schools will be closed from June 1 to June 30 and reopen on July 1 in accordance with the updated schedule. After classes end on August 2, schools will reopen for a brief vacation from August 3 to August 12.
What Officials Said on Himachal Pradesh Heatwave?
The Deputy Director of Primary Education, Somlal Dhiman, stated that the summer vacations were previously scheduled from June 1 to June 8 and then again from July 12 to August 12. To better assist pupils, the education department has updated the schedule in light of the rising temperatures.
The updated plan states that Una schools will have two distinct summer vacations. The entire month of June will see the closure of schools, which will resume on July 1. After that, classes will go on until August 2. From August 3 to August 12, there will be a little break.
Himachal Heat Wave School Closed: Temperature During June
Around Una, June temperatures frequently reach 44 to 45 degrees Celsius. Due to the heat, teacher unions have been requesting that the government move holidays or alter school schedules. According to Dhiman, the education department has taken the initiative this year to provide children with complete summer relief.
The Una district has 744 government schools in total, comprising 141 senior secondary schools, 45 high schools, 84 middle schools, and 474 primary schools. Every day, thousands of children go to these schools.
