
Jharkhand Schools, Colleges Reopening Today: With COVID-19 cases stabilizing, the Jharkhand State Government has decided to permit reopening of educational institutions in the state. The latest government order in this regard confirms that Schools and Colleges will reopen for physical lectures from today onwards i.e., 1st February 2022 onwards across the state. The decision to permit reopening of schools in Jharkhand was taken at the meeting of State Disaster Management Authority, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday.
Partial School Reopening in 7 Districts
As far as school reopening of concerned, the state government has decided allow resumption of offline classes for all students of all classes i.e., 1st to 12th, except for in 7 district where COVID-19 case numbers continue to be high. These include, Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Chatra, Deoghar, Saraikela, Simdega and Bokaro. For these districts, schools will reopen only for Class 9 to 12 students. This is being done with a view of safeguarding students in primary and upper-primary classes, who are currently not eligible to get COVID-19 vaccine. All schools and college opening is to be managed in line with the COVID-19 guidelines and precautionary measures announced by the state government.
Offline Competitive Exams and Other Relaxations
During the State Disaster Management Authority chaired by Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren today, the state cabinet also relaxed many other COVID-19 curbs and restrictions. The main among them included permission to hold competitive entrance exams in offline mode. Furthermore, the state government has also allowed reopening of gyms and swimming pools in the state as part of the relaxations. On similar lines, sports events are also allowed to be held at stadiums without any spectators. For social gatherings such as marriage, the state government has relaxed cap on gathering of up to 200 people.
