Karnataka School Reopening News: As per the latest update, the Karantaka State Government has reached out to a panel of experts, which includes doctors and health experts, seeking their opinion to understand the feasibility of opening of schools amid the prevailing situation of the pandemic in the state. This comes in the backdrop of Central Govt’s Unlock 5.0 Guidelines which allow states to reopen schools from 15th October 2020 onwards in a graded manner.
Education Ministry asks Health Ministry’s Opinion
As per media reports, the education department of Karnataka Government has sought the opinion of the health department on the matter. In response to this, the State Health Minister B Sriramulu has reached out to a panel of experts and asked them to assess the feasibility of school reopening and the precautions that need to be taken for the same. Talking to media persons, Health Minister said "We have to take into account the report to be furnished by the panel of experts and doctors including pediatricians and psychiatrists before opening the schools and colleges.”
Need to Instil Confidence among Students, Parents
He also added that since schools and educational institutions in the state have been closed for nearly 6 months now, since the outbreak of COVID-19 in March 2020; students have been continuing their learning from home. However, before the schools are reopened several challenges, including logistical and psychological, needs to be addressed, he added. He also said that before reopening of schools, the fear of coronavirus infection from the minds of students and parents needs to be addressed. To do so, the state government plans to work with doctors and psychiatrists to instill confidence in the minds of students and their parents.
