Kerala School Reopening

Kerala Schools Reopening Update: Kerala State Government has given its nod for reopening of schools in the state from 7th February 2022 onwards. As per the official announcement, from Monday, Schools will reopen for physical classes for Class 10, 11 and 12 along with Colleges across the state. For junior classes of schools, Offline Classes for Class 1 to 9 to resume from 14th February. The decision to reopen schools and colleges in the state comes following the fall in the total number of Active COVID-19 cases in the state.

Decision at COVID-19 Review Meeting Chaired by CM Pinarayi Vijayan

The decision to relax the COVID-19 restrictions and to allow reopening of schools and colleges in the state was taken at a COVID-19 review meeting. The meeting was chaired by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi. The decision comes following a significant dip in the new COVID-19 cases being reported in Kerala at 42,677 as compared to 52,199 which were reported a day earlier on Wednesday.

Official Notice from CMO Kerala

In the last week, several rumours and speculations have been doing the rounds about Kerala School Reopening. To avoid creating any confusion among resumption of offline classes, Kerala Chief Minister’s Office has released an official notice. The release reads “"The Classes for 10, 11 and 12th standards and college students will begin from February 7. The classes for children from Class 1 to 9, creche and kindergarten will start from February 14.”

72% Eligible Students Vaccinated

The press release issued by CMO Kerala also talks about the on-going Children’s vaccination drive in the state. The Health Department data on the matter confirmed that a total of 72% of the students in the age group of 15 to 18 years group have been vaccinated so far. The PR also says that the second dose has been administered to 85 per cent of the targeted population, according to the release. These two factors can also be the major reasons for the state government to take decision to reopen schools.
