Maharashtra Board Exam 2021 Dates Announced: HSC Exams likely to commence after 15th April, SSC from 1st May

Maharashtra SSC, HSC Board Exam 2021 Dates Announced: According to media reports, the Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has stated that the tentative dates for the upcoming Class 10 and 12 Board exams. The Minister stated that the Maharashtra HSC Exams for 2021 will be conducted after April 15, 2021, while the Class 12 exams will be conducted from May 1, 2021. The Minister also added that the final datesheet will be released subject wise for the upcoming HSC and SSC Board exams will be released by the state education board in the coming weeks.

Exams Delayed due to COVID pandemic

Speaking to reporters, Ms Gaikwad also added that for 2021 session, the board exams have been delayed by nearly three months owing to the COVID pandemic and the lockdown measures and school closures. Typically, Board Exams are held in February – March months, however, this time the Class 12 Board Exams will be held after 15^th April while Class 10 exams will start from 1^st May 2021 onwards. In total, around 17 lakh candidates will be appearing for SSC Exams while around 13 lakh students would be appearing for HSC / Class 12 Board Exams this year.

Earlier, School Education Minister had said that even if the Board Exams 2021 were delayed in the state, they wouldn’t be delayed until May 2021. This is because in May, some part of the states suffer from intense heat-wave making it difficult for students to appear for the exam. On similar lines, in June, the state experiences incessant rain fall which will further hamper the exam organization in the state. Keeping these aspects in mind, the state government has decided to permit holding of HSC exams from 15^th April followed by HSC Exams in May 2021.
