Professor Archana Shukhla has been appointed as the new director of Indian Institute of Management –Lucknow. Prof. Shukhla was earlier a professor of Organization Behaviour in the Human Resource Management Group of the institute. Professor Shukla is the first faculty member of the institute to be made director.
Professor Archana Shukla obtained her Ph.D. in Organizational Behaviour from Indian Institute of Technology- Kanpur and has experience in teaching, training and research experience for 28 years. She has also been a keen researcher and has authored books and research papers.
Prof. Shukla has also been a recipient of the first chairperson of Dr. Ishwar Dayal Chair for futuristic issues in the Behavioural Sciences for a period of two years from 2015-2017. She also conducts her sessions in management development programmes on Team Building, Managerial Effectiveness, and developing a strategic mindset.
Professor Shukla was appointed as Director by the Board of Governors based on the recommendations made by the Search-cum-Selection (ScSC) Committee. The institute has set a few criteria for the appointment of the director. As per the notification released by the institute, the candidates applying for the post of the Director should have an experience in teaching/ research of at least 15 years, of which at least 7 years should have been as a full-time professor at IIM’s or other peer institutions in India or Abroad. Another category was that the candidates must have at least 15 years of industry experience in senior managerial positions in reputed organizations in India/ abroad.
The director’s post of Indian Institute of Management Lucknow was lying vacant for the past five months following the demise of incumbent Ajit Prasad on October 31, 2018.
