Pune University Reopening Update: As per the latest update, Pune University has directed college affiliated with it to reopen for physical classes from 11th January onwards. Savitribai Phule Pune University - SSPU affiliated colleges will reopen for UG, PG and PhD students in Pune, Nashik, and Ahmednagar starting from Monday. As part of the initial reopening process, classes would resume in over 800 colleges affiliated with the varsity for practicals, theory, industrial training projects, and dissertations. The reopening will be done by all colleges in accordance with the guidelines shared by UGC.

Official Circular Released by SSPU

To confirm the development, Pune University Deputy Registrar issued an official circular which said that practical, internship, and dissertation-related work for odd semesters for students from the second year onwards will start from Monday – 11th January 2021. On similar lines, practical training for students of second year onwards will also resume from next Monday for majority of courses including engineering, architecture, pharmacy, management, hotel management, physical education, law, and other similar programs.

The official circular also states that theory as well as practical classes for undergraduate & postgraduate courses for 1st year students, who have been admitted on the basis of merit based admission process, and not entrance exam, will also resume from 11th January 2021. As per the circular, after the completion of the odd semester, all colleges have been instructed to begin theory and practicals of the even semesters of all programs in the offline mode.

Practical, Oral Exams After Reopening

With colleges slated to reopen from 11th January 2021, the decks have also been cleared for holding of practical and oral exams for the students. Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced that it would be holding the oral and practical exams as part of the on-going semester exams only after offline classes begin. Earlier, the varsity had issued orders directing colleges affiliated to it to not hold practical or viva examinations in virtual or remote mode and instead wait for the same until offline classes begin.
