Rajasthan Lockdown News: With COVID-19 cases rising rapidly across the state, the Rajasthan State Government has decided to announce new lockdown restrictions and guidelines to curb the spread of the pandemic. Going by the latest order, Schools in Jaipur for Class 1 to 8 i.e. primary and upper primary classes have been closed for offline or physical classes for now. With students yet to be vaccinated, the state government has decided to impose new COVID lockdown guidelines under which students have been safeguarded first. Jaipur schools have been closed for classes 1 to 8 amid fear of Omicron and maximum COVID-19 infections. For higher education institutions, the new guidelines have directed colleges and universities to ensure that all students, teachers and staff members are fully vaccinated by 31st January 2022.
Schools Closed in Jaipur until 9th January
For now, the state government has announced closure of Primary Schools from 3rd to 9th January 2022. For now, schools have been closed only for students of Class 1 to 8 and offline or physical classes for rest of the students will continue as were being held earlier. This has been taken as an important step to safeguard the school children, especially those falling in the age group of 5 to 15. At the same time, the state government is expected to start vaccination drive for 15 to 18 year old students soon in the state.
School Closure in Other Districts as per DM’s Order
As far as closure of schools in other districts and cosmopolitan areas are concerned, the decision has been left to the respective district magistrates. As per the official announcement, District Magistrates have been empowered to take a final call on the matter of school and college closure and continuation of academic or educational activities within their jurisdiction.

Parents’ Consent Required for Offline Classes
Among the guidelines issued by the state government for offline classes, the condition of mandatory consent from parent or guardian has been continued for all students, irrespective of their class or age. The new COVID-19 guidelines issued by the state government says that schools now need the written consent of parents before their wards come to school for offline classes. Furthermore, Schools have also been instructed to not pressurise parents/guardians in any way to send their wards to school.
