The state government of Tamil Nadu has decided to reopen the schools in the state from November 16 onwards. The schools will be reopened after a gap of close to 7 months since the schools in the state have been closed from March 2020. The state government ahead of reopening the government schools, government-aided schools, and private schools have conducted a parent-teacher meeting. As per reports, the schools will be reopening for the students from classes 9 to 12.
Meeting conducted with parents
Approximately 1200 schools in the state have conducted the meeting with the parents to get their vows on the reopening of the schools. At the meeting, safety precautions were discussed regarding reopening the schools along with the safety measures to be followed in order to contain the spread of the virus on the school premises.
Most of the parents of students from private schools were not in favor of the schools reopening in November and were of the opinion of postponing the reopening of the schools to January 2021. Parents of the students from government schools on the other hand wanted the schools to reopen soon.
CBSE parent-teacher meeting
One of the government school teachers while speaking to the media stated that the parents who are doing casual jobs feel that the children will be safe in schools. The CBSE schools in the state also conducted a meeting with the parents who have voiced their opinion that the schools need not be reopening.
Standard Format for schools
The Schools Education Department ahead of the meeting sent the standard format to all the schools using which the schools were expected to collate the feedback from the parents. After conducting an analysis of the feedback, the state government will make the announcement before Diwali.

The government has also decided that the students will undergo medical screening keeping in mind the conditions. A team of doctors from the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram will be screening the government school students, while the private schools in the state will be conducting health checkups and submit the details to the state government.
