Telangana Online Classes

Telangana High Court has directed the Telangana State Government to clear its stand on the ongoing online classes conducted by the private schools in the state. The court has asked the state government to inform the court by July 3, 2020, if it will frame any policy for the online classes or otherwise. The order was given in the hearing conducted for a PIL filed in the court by the Hyderabad School Students Parents Association seeking a ban over the online classes.

PIL files against Online Classes

The PIL filed in the court has called the ongoing online classes before the commencement of the academic year as illegal. The court has also been informed that the government had not issued any orders regarding the beginning of the new academic year until now.

The Telangana High Court division bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice B Vijayasen Reddy was part of hearing the case. The petitioner has also informed that conducting the online classes was unfair for most of the students who are from poor families and cannot afford the resources essential to attend the online classes.

When asked whether the people have the capacity to buy the laptops and smartphones the government counsel informed that the district education officers will be taking the necessary steps to make sure that all are benefited.

The court has provided the state government two days' time to submit their responses with regard to the online classes. The state government is required to come up with a policy on the issue of online classes.

This however is different from the earlier statement released by the court which stated that the government cannot make a policy for the private schools of the state. Parents and students will now have to wait for the government's decision on the online classes.
