WB Schools, Colleges Reopening: Offline Classes to Start for Class 8 to 12 and College Students from 3rd February

WB School Reopening Update: As per the latest update, Schools and Colleges across West Bengal will reopen for offline classes starting from this Thursday i.e., 3rd February 2022. WB School Reopening will be held for students in higher classes i.e., from Class 8 to 12 students, as per the official announcement.

WB School, College Reopening

WB School Reopening Update: As per the latest update, Schools and Colleges across West Bengal will reopen for offline classes starting from this Thursday i.e., 3rd February 2022. WB School Reopening will be held for students in higher classes i.e., from Class 8 to 12 students, as per the official announcement. On the other hand, Colleges and Universities will also reopen for physical Classes from 3rd February 2022 onwards. The news about Schools and Colleges reopening in West Bengal was confirmed by State CM Mamata Banerjee today. Media reports have hinted that the decision about West Bengal School, College Reopening was taken by the state government following review of prevailing COVID-19 situation in the state.

 

Schools, Colleges Reopening as per COVID-19 Guidelines

The decision to allow reopening of schools and colleges in the state for higher class students was taken by the State Government keeping in mind the educational loss being incurred by the students. However, keeping safety of the students as its top priority, the government has said that reopening of educational institutions will be carried out in strict adherence with COVID-19 guidelines and precautionary measures. This means that all students will be required to wear face masks when they are on campus and follow social distancing norms at school. Furthermore, spaced seating arrangements and staggered class timings will also be implemented by school administrators to avoid gathering of students on campus.

PIL Demanding School Reopening in Calcutta High Court

Although it is not confirmed, by in part the decision to reopen schools and colleges in West Bengal seems to have been announced following filing of PIL before Calcutta High Court on the matter. On Friday, a PIL – Public Interest Litigation was also filed before the Calcutta High Court seeking reopening of schools and colleges in the state. Following the filing of PIL, the High Court bench comprising of Chief Justice Prakash Shrivastava and Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj directed to share its stand on the matter. The next date for hearing on the matter was fixed as 14th February 2022.
