WB Madhyamik Exam 2022

West Bengal Madhyamik Exam 2022: West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) is conducting the WB Class 10 Exam 2022 for Madhyamik Class students currently. As part of the measures implemented to curb malpractices and cheating, the WB Government had announced that it would suspend internet services in and around a few areas of some sensitive exam centres. This decision of the WB Govt to suspend internet connectivity during the Madhyamik Exam was challenged before the court earlier. In response to the plea, the Calcutta High Court has ordered a stay on the order and asked the state government, not to cut-off internet services around the exam centres.

Court Not against Taking Measures To Check Cheating

The petition was heard by Calcutta High Court Bench consisting of Chief Justice Prakash Shrivastava and Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj. After hearing the complaint, the bench decided to order a stay on the WB govt order and directed the officials to file an affidavit with all required documents. While ordering the stay, the Court noted that it was not against any measures that were being implemented to check cheating and malpractices during the ongoing Madhyamik Exams.

10 Lakh Students Appearing for WBBSE Class 10 Exam

As per the details available right now, around 10 Lakh students are appearing for the West Bengal Madhyamik Exam 2022 currently. With several instances of cheating and malpractices coming to the fore in the last few days, the state government had ordered the suspension of the internet in some areas from 11 am to 3.15 pm. The decision regarding the suspension of internet services was notified through a directive issued by the West Bengal Home Department. However, regular phone services including phone calls and text messages service were not restricted.

Decision After Reports of Paper Leak

The decision to implement the suspension of the internet in areas surrounding exam centres was taken by the state government after reports of paper leak from Malda and Murshidabad in 2019 and 2020. While the paper leak allegations were found to be fake, the state government decided to suspend internet in and around exam centres as a safety precaution, as per a PTI report.
