In the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2015 which has been taken up by more than 1.8 lakh candidates, 17 have scored the 100 percentile. This is the first time in last five years that so many candidates have scored the ace marks. The experts after undergoing the questions of this year’s CAT had thought that there will be significant drop in hundred percentiles this year. The seventeen students who have scored the hundred percentile are all engineers, as it has been in the previous years as well.
There is only one girl among the total 58270, who have appeared for the CAT 2015 examination, who have scored a hundred percentile. Compared to the year 2014, the number of registration by women candidates has grown by 13.8%. For the first time in the history of CAT examinations, 80 transgender candidates registered themselves. None of the 41, who took the test, could score more than 90 percentile. IIM Ahmedabad announced the result and the consequent data recently, which organized this year’s CAT examination.
Highest number of registrations for this year’s examination got registered from cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Pune ruled the number of registering candidates, which stood as high as 10359. The name of the highest ranking students was not announced by IIM Ahmedabad. Among the 1814 students who scored above 99 percentile, 136 are girls. More than 9000 students scored above 95 percentile, out of which 1243 are girls. Eight women in total managed to get 99.9 percentile. Due to this fierce competition and high marking even the 99 and 98 percentile candidates fail to secure admissions in IIMs.
