EAMCET is popularly known as Engineering agriculture and medical common entrance test and is an entrance test which is conducted for providing admission in engineering and medical colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh. There are various colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh which are affiliated to this board of education. Majority of the courses offered by this board of education are BDS, B. pharm, BSc, Pharm D and etc.
The examinations for the same are conducted once in year and are taken by large number of engineering and medical aspirants in Andhra Pradesh. Counselling sessions are provided to the students to make them perform better in the examinations. In 2007, around 185,000 students took the engineering stream and around 90,000 students in the Medical and Agriculture stream. From 2009, onwards 25 % weightage is being given to 10+2 results. The rank for such entrance examinations is based on 75% EAMCET and 25% intermediate examinations. There were around 311,355 students in the engineering and 65,357 students in Medicine appeared in EAMCET 2009.

The minimum pass eligibility criterionis that the students must pass intermediate examinations conducted by Andhra Pradesh board of intermediate education with appropriate optional subjects or its equivalent.
