No, the 4.5% of reservations for minorities among OBC - Non creamy layer is not in force presently as the Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh in PIL Nos. 1, 22 and 56 of 2012 have set aside the resolution of MHRD dated 22 December 2011 through which a sub-quota of 4.5% in favour of OBC (minorities) from the 27% quota for OBCs was carved out. Consequently, the reservation for NC – OBC Minorities is not in force for CAT 2013 examination i.e. for 2014 admissions to IIMs, until further legal developments and MHRD Directives.
All applications under NC-OBC minority shall inevitably be considered under the NC-OBC category, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
But, since the Andhra Pradesh High Courts’ judgement in the mentioned cases, MHRD had asked Centrally funded Technical Institutes vide D.O.No 21 – 61 / 2012 – TS .II to provide necessary flexibility in the admission process to NC – OBC Minorities, so , IIMs are seeking information related to NC – OBC –Minorities.
