CAT applicants will get an opportunity to appear for the re-test chance in case of any technical glitch during the test administration. The news has been notified by IIMs officially. In addition, they have also assured the CAT takers of a smooth test administration. IIMs in an official statement have said that they make all possible efforts, including a re-test, to correct any problem that might prevent a test from being delivered and/or a result from being generated. “…every effort will be made to correct the problem, up to and including the administration of another test,” official statement released by IIMs.
However, Prof. Rajendra K. Bandi (CAT 2016 Convenor) mentioned that there are very little chances for any such glitch as the exam will be conducted and organized by IIM Bangalore and testing agency TCS. But, in order to refrain from any adverse scenario, IIMs has offered re-test chance in case of any technical glitch. On the contrary, the procedure to apply for a re-test is also not mentioned on the official website.
CAT Re-Test Scenarios
- In case there are minor technical glitches such as system breakdowns for some time, you will get proportionate time as the timer on your screen will start from where it got stopped. So there will be no re-test, only extended proportionate time will be allotted.
- In case the system does not get activated at all and there lies a major fault in net connectivity at the test venue, and the problem is not corrected within reasonable time, then a re-test will be organized for those candidates by CAT 2016 exam centre.
- Inaccessibility of test center due to major riots, curfew is another probability for the cancellation of test, then the CAT 2016 exam centre may have to resort to Re-test in some other time slot.
