CBSE Class 12th Board exam 2017 started from March 9, 2017 with the English Paper [English Elective –NCERT, English Elective – CBSE (Functional English), English Core]. Nearly 10 lakh candidates appeared for three - hour exam across the country.
The time allotted to read the complete question paper was 15 minutes i.e. from 10:15 AM to 10:30 AM. The examination began at 10:30 AM and ended at 1:30 PM. The examination was conducted smoothly by CBSE without any unwanted incidents.
Examination pattern:
In CBSE Class 12 English Elective (Functional English) paper, there were three sections: A, B and C. Weightage of Section – A (or Reading section) was 20 Marks, weightage of Section – B (or Writing and Grammar) was 40 Marks and weightage of Section – C (or Literature) was 40 Marks. In CBSE Class 12 English Core 2017 paper, there were also three sections: A, B and C. Weightage of Section - A (or Reading) was 30 Marks, weightage of Section - B (or Writing skills) was 30 Marks and weightage of Section – C (or Literature) was 40 Marks.
Easy but lengthy
The general sense after CBSE Class 12 English exams was that of satisfaction among the students. Some termed the paper a bit easy as compared to the previous year papers whereas other complaint that paper was lengthy. Most of students & teachers reiterated that the CBSE English paper covered almost the entire syllabus and was not biased towards any one section or topic.
According to the board, this year 10,98,891 registered for CBSE 12th board exam in which 6,38,865 are boys and 4,60,026 are girls.
As per CBSE Class 12 date sheet 2017, the next important exam is Physics which is scheduled to be held on 15th March 2017.
