Q. Write whether the rational number 7/75will have a terminating decimal expansion or non-terminating repeating decimal expansion.
Sol.
Here, denominator 75 = 3 × 5 × 5 = 3 × 52
Thus, denominator is not of the form 2n5m.
Therefore, 7/75 is a non-terminating repeating decimal expansion.
Q. Find HCF and LCM of 404 and 96 and verify that HCF × LCM = Product of the two given numbers.
Sol.
Here, 404 = 2 × 2 × 101
And 96 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3
Common factors = 2 × 2
Therefore, HCF of 404 and 96 = 2 × 2 = 4
LCM of 404 and 96 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 101 = 9696
Now, HCF × LCM = 4 × 9696 = 38784
And product of the two numbers = 404 × 96 = 38784
Hence, it is verified. HCF × LCM = Product of 404 and 96.
