CDS Exam (I) 2016 Syllabus: General Knowledge & English

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) organizes Combined Defence Service Examination. Through CDS Exam, candidates get admission to the courses at Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy.

Syllabus of CDS Exam – Here we will provide you the detail syllabus of English & General Knowledge for the CDS exam.

1. Paper – 1. English - This paper will test the candidate's understanding of English language. It consists of various topics like – Antonym, Synonym, Spotting Errors, Sentence improvement, Word substitution, Selecting Words, Comprehension, Ordering of sentences, ordering of words in a sentence.

2. Paper-2. General Knowledge- It will test the knowledge of candidate on various topics. The topics are below –

1. History of India – In this section question will be asked from Ancient India, Medieval India and Modern India.

2. Geography – This part will cover the Geography of India & World Geography.

3. Polity – It cover various topics like Citizenship, Fundamental rights, Parliament, President and its power, The Directive principle of state policy, Indian Judiciary ( Supreme court, High Court & District court), constitutional bodies etc.

4. Economics – In this section question will be asked from various topics like the current update in Indian Economy, Classical Economy, Economical Policy, Foreign Trade, Budget, Five Year plan etc.

5.General Science – It will be divided into three parts like –Biology, Physics, Chemistry.
Physics -Heat, Motion, Electric, temperature, Optics, Astronomy, Units, Force etc
 Chemistry – Experimental Chemistry, General chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry.
Biology – Botany, Zoology, Diseases (Human, Plant & Animal), Human Biology, Recent Research.

6. Current Affairs – It consists of various topics like latest News of National & International, Sports, Awards, Personalities, summit, India relation with World etc.

7. Defence Related – In this part Question will be asked from various topics like Force day (Army day, Navy day, CISF day etc), Policy related to Defence, Institute of Forces, Defence Research (like DRDO), and Missile Research etc.

8. International Organizational – UNO, WMO. IMF, SAARC, BRICS, NATO, WHO, World Bank, etc.
