The CGPSC State Service Main (Written) Exam is going to be conducted from 22 March 2014 and the candidates must now gear up for the exam.
The Forests form an integral part of Chhattisgarh’s Economy and Geography. Indian Government gives great importance to bringing at least 33 per cent of the country’s area under forests. Chhattisgarh already has 41 per cent of its area under forest cover. Forests are huge Carbon sinks. They are great sources of food, wood and livelihood.
Forests form an integral part of Chhattisgarh. According to UNDP report in 2011, Chhattisgarh has the third largest area under forest cover in India after Madhya Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh, i.e. 12 percent of India’s forests are in Chhattisgarh.
This makes it necessary for the candidates to have a thorough knowledge about the forest area of the state. Also, the forests form the main source of livelihood for a large number of tribal people of Chhattisgarh.
