    Admissions to the different courses offered by the University of Delhi are made either on the basis of merit or on the basis of entrance exams. However, the admission process for both admission through merit and entrance exams commences with the release of the application forms. In the application form candidates need to enter the marks secured by them in the best four subjects and other information which has elaborated in this article. After the application form window is closed candidates will be notified about the release of the cutoff.

    The candidates who qualify the cutoff rank mentioned in each list must attend the document verification process which will be conducted in the different colleges.

    Key Points to Remember

    • The marks of students from those educational boards that don’t have the system of 70% theory and 30% practical in their marks will be converted on proportional basis.
    • Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 for admission to B.Com (hons), Mathematics (hons), Statistics (hons), Computer Science (hons), and Economics (hons).
    • If a student wants to pursue Honors program in a subject that he/she has not studied in Class12 then the student will face a 2.5% disadvantage in the best of four aggregate.
    • If one opts for a Modern Indian Language (Except Hindi) as a subject in BA (Prog) an advantage of up to 10% may be given in ‘Best Four’ in colleges where MIL is offered as a subject.
    • Applicants who want college hostel will have to apply to the particular college after they get admission.

    Step-by-step Registration Process

    Given below is a step by step guide to the Delhi University admission process that the DU aspirants can follow for the DU Admission process 2019.

    Step 1: To Create a New Account

    The first step of the DU Registration process is the online registration for which the applicant has to visit the following link -http://admission.du.ac.in. The UG Admission Portal of the University of Delhi is mobile/tab friendly. However, the webpage may appear different on different devices. The following instructions are for the webpage as it appears on a desktop/laptop.

    Step 2: Login To The Account

    As a first time user, applicant must go to the “New Applicant Sign Up” link and then create the user account by clicking on the “New Registration” link. Under the “Create New Account” page, all fields are mandatory and indicated by a red asterisk (*) adjacent to the name of the field. Applicants who do not have a valid email-id must create an email-id before creating new account. The applicant must also ensure that the email-id and password is kept handy for all the future correspondence/reference regarding admission process.

    Step 3: Enter your Personal Information

    After successful registration you'll be provided with your login credentials. Use your credentials to login to application portal. Then fill in personal Details in the DU Application Form. Given below is the list of the details that the candidates will be required to fill in the application form.  

    • Name of the Candidate – This field is automatically filled in as per the details submitted at the time of registration. 
    • Email ID – This field is also automatically filled in as per the details submitted at the time of registration.
    • Mobile Number – Though the candidates had to give their mobile number in the registration form, however, they can also update it if they wish to.
    • Gender – Choose your relevant gender
    • Date of Birth – You need to provide your DOB as it appears on the applicant’s class 10th certificate.
    • Aadhaar Card Number – Enter your aadhaar number, if it is available.
    • Category – Select your category from the drop-down menu
    • Mother ‘s Name and Citizenship – This is a mandatory field to be filled by the candidate.
    • Address Details - Enter details for your permanent address and correspondence address. 

    Step 4: Provide your Bank Details

    In this section, the candidates need to provide their Bank details for the refund of fee in case of cancellation of admission. You shall have to enter your bank account number and IFSC and other important details.

    Step 5: Enter your Academic Details

    In this section candidates must enter all the relevant academic details such as the marks obtained in class 10th and class 12th for the undergraduate level courses. For the postgraduate level courses candidates will also be required to enter their marks obtained in the graduation degree.

    Step 6: Merit-based Course Selection

     In this section, you will have to select any number of courses (where admission is based on merit) based on the eligibility criteria. In this section, the candidates need to select any number of courses (where admission is based on entrance) based on the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria.

    Step 7: Selection of Sports / ECA Quota

    • Sports

    In this section, if a candidate wants to be considered for admission through Sports Quota need to select “Yes” option.

    • ECA

    If a candidate wishes to take admission through “ECA” quota, then select “Yes”.

    Step 8: Uploading of Important Documents

    Upload all the relevant documents in the application form. Given below is the list of the important documents that you need to upload in the DU 2019 application form. 

    • Class X board examination certificate
    • Class XII provisional certificate and/or original certificate
    • Class XII mark-sheet
    • Class X mark-sheet (in case of Central Board of School Education (CBSE), mark sheet and certificate are same)
    • At least two passport size self-attested photographs of the student Complete the formalities in the college.
    • Transfer certificates from school/college, as well as Migration certificate from board/university, are required from students who have passed the senior secondary exam from outside Delhi
    • If applicable, SC/ST/people with disability/CW/KM certificate (in the name of the applicant) issued by the competent authority
    • Recent character certificate issued either by the principal of school last attended or Class - I gazetted officer
    • If applicable other backward class (OBC) (non-creamy layer) certificate (in the name of the applicant) must be in the central list issued by https://ncbc.nic.in

    Step 8: Pay the Application Fee

    Given below is the application fee for undergraduate, postgraduate and M.Phil level courses. The application fee can be submitted in the online mode only. There is no provision for the fee to be submitted in the offline mode.

    DU Admission – Application Form FAQs

    Question: I have registered online on the DU website do I still need to fill up the offline form?

    Answer: No, if you’ve already submitted your pre- registration form online and made your payment then there’s no need to fill the offline form.

    Question:  Can I enroll myself for a certificate language course along with my regular graduation course?

    Answer: Yes, many colleges offer part time certificate courses in office management, foreign languages etc. However, it is advisable not to enroll yourself for any of these during the 1st year. In first year try to understand how your regular course works and you can plan about your certificate course accordingly.

    Question:  Will there be any disadvantage for gap year students?

    Answer: No, all you need are the necessary documents.

    Question: How does one apply through the ECA or Sports quota?

    Answer: Each college has a separate form for ECA and sports quota that needs to be filled. For sports there is a centralized fitness test that is conducted by University Sports Council and trials to be conducted by colleges. Similarly, colleges will conduct trials for ECA also.
