Equal Salary for Contract and Permanent Employees in Delhi Govt.

Delhi Government will soon implement the new direction given by Supreme Court in context to equalizing the regular pay of permanent employees and ad-hoc based employees.  

As per SC judgment on regular pay of permanent employees and contractual employees, the temporary or contractual employees are entitled to wages at par with permanent employees.  ‘Equal pay for equal work’ principle is justified through this judgment.

Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi CM on 27 October 2016 supported the judgment passed by SC and said that he will immediately put it into practice in the state. He also demanded Punjab Government to execute the judgment on immediate basis. In this context Kejriwal tweeted “Landmark judgment by Supreme Court. Will immediately implement it in Delhi and simultaneously expedite the process of their (temporary employees’) regularization.”

The petition was filed by Punjab employees on the basis of it the judgment was passed by the Court.
