ICMR Professor and Assistant Professor Eligibility and Age Limit?

The eligibility criteria and age limit have been released by the examination authority. Candidates can refer to the official notification for details.

Educational Qualification: The candidate should have an MBBS degree from a recognised institute and a post graduation degree with a specialisation in the course.

Age Limit: The maximum age of the candidate as of the last date of the online application should be 45 years (for assistant professors) and 50 years (for professors). 

Experience: At least three years' teaching experience as a senior resident, tutor, demonstrator, or registrar in the concerned specialty or super-specialty in a recognised teaching Institution, after obtaining the first postgraduate degree 

ICMR Professor and Assistant Professor Selection Procedure

The candidates will be selected on the basis of criteria fixed by ICMR. If the number of such shortlisted candidates is high and it is not possible to call all of them for an interview, then the ICMR shall further shortlist the candidates on the basis of some suitable short-listing criteria, as may be fixed by the appointing authority, i.e., DG, ICMR. Though this may vary from case to case, depending on merits, ICMR generally prefers to call candidates with higher experience in the relevant fields or candidates with higher educational qualifications, as the case may be.

ICMR Professor and Assistant Professor Salary

The selected candidates will be placed on different pay scales based on their positions. The professors will be placed in pay level 13 of Rs. 1,23100–Rs. 2,15,900 (pre-revised Grade pay of Rs. 8700) and assistant professors will be placed in pay level 11 of Rs. -Rs.208700 (Pre-revised Grade pay of Rs. 6600)
