IGNOU Offers a Certificate Course in Sericulture

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has invited applications for admissions in a Certificate Course in Sericulture.
The prime objective of the program is to infuse knowledge and skills in the field of sericulture to the interested particularly those already employed in the profession/entrepreneurs and cannot opt to afford a full time course.
Usually aimed at creating awareness about the opportunities of employment and livelihood in sericulture, this Certificate Program in Sericulture is mainly focused to prepare the youngsters/farmers for getting involved in sericulture as a profit making enterprise.  
A Certificate in Sericulture will unfurl the career opportunities like Self Entrepreneurship in Egg Production as well as the production of sericulture related products, and placement options at reeling and weaving units, corporate sericulture offices, State Dept of Sericulture, Marketing Division of Sericulture products, Textile industries as laboratory assistant, etc.  The program also allows placements in grainures, sales counters, reelers, weavers and quality assessment centers and also provides opportunity to work as large scale farmers under state and central development projects and schemes.
The minimum duration of this certificate course is six months. However, the candidates will have the flexibility of completing the program within two years of time. The medium of instruction for the course is English.
The course fee is Rs. 3,500, but the candidates from rural areas and those living below poverty line in urban areas could be allowed 50 per cent concession in fees on submitting the respective Supporting Documents.
The minimum eligibility requirement for admission in Certificate in Sericulture program is 10+2 pass-outs. Candidates who have not passed Class 10 but have two years of experience in sericulture can also apply by submitting their experience certificates from recognized NGOs or sericulture industry.
Admission to the course is open till 31 July 2013 but with a late fee of Rs. 500/-
