The CAT 2017 season is soaring high with new surprises on the cards for the students every other day. This times its IIM Indore hitting the headlines. The premier institute has finally released the CAT 2017 cut-off making it clear that CAT 2017 scores will be given only 20 per cent weightage in shortlisting candidates for PI-WAT stage selection for their two-year full time flagship PGDM programme. 

This is a big move considering the weightage provided by other IIMs in the recent release of their respective cut-off criteria for the final selection of the students. This criterion is expected to attract a huge lot of candidates aspiring to pursue MBA degree from IIMs.

As per the cut-off it is clearly evident that a minimum CAT 2017 percentile of 90 is a prerequisite to get shortlisted for the next round of admission process. IIM Indore will conduct Written Ability Test (WAT) and personal Interview (PI) on the basis of scores obtained in CAT 2017.

Infact along with the overall percentile of 90, it is equally important to score high in all the three section i.e. 80 percentile each in all the three sections for the students of General Category.

Other Parameters of Selection in IIM Indore

The criteria mentioned below are strategically important for the purpose of selection. High score on these parameters will ensure a sure shot selection in the Personal Interview (PI) round. IIM Indore will conduct admission interviews in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi only.

CAT 2017

The CAT 2017 has been allotted 20 per cent weightage. For the purpose of shortlisting, the scores of CAT exam takers will be computed as follows:

20* [candidate’s CAT overall score / highest CAT overall score]  

Academic Performance

In the shortlisting process, IIM Indore has allotted 36% weightage to Class 10 while class 12 marks will be awarded 40% weightage.

On the contrary, no weightage has been assigned for the performance in the graduation (bachelor’s degree).

Gender Diversity Factor (GDF)

IIM Indore will award of 4% weightage to female candidates to ensure gender diversity while shortlisting the candidates for PI stage.

Launches New flagship Programmes

IIM Indore has another big surprise for the candidates aspiring to pursue their management career int he domain of Human Resource Management. Apart from its flagship PGP programme, it will commence the PGP-HRM programme in 2018 i.e. for the upcoming batch of 2018-20. The candidates appearing in CAT 2017 will get the golden opportunity to pursue MBA specialization in the domain of HRM from IIM Indore, thus making them the first batch to graduate in this domain from the institute.

Plans to increase Batch size
With the launch of new programme in its campus, the IIM aspirants will also see an increase in the number of seats with the institute. As of now, IIM Indore offered admission to around 530 at its Indore and Mumbai campuses. Now, with the launch of new PGP-HRM, it is expected that batch size would be able to enrol 600 candidates.
