Synopsis: IIM Bangalore and IIM Visakhapatnam students will participate in the summer internship placement (SIP) programme. The SIP programme will be held at IIMB campus from 7th November 2016 onwards.
IIM Bangalore – one of top MBA colleges in India; will begin its summer placement season on November 7, 2016. In line with the past trends, consulting, e-commerce and financial services firms are likely to dominate the summer placement season this year.
The summer internship programme (SIP) at IIM B is part of the first year curriculum for Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) students. This year, a total of 407 students that are a part of PGP Batch of 2016-18 will take part in the placement season. Those selected by respective firms will be offered a two-month internship in April-May 2017.
In addition to this, 54 students from the second batch of the post-graduate programme (PGP) from recently launched IIM-Visakhapatnam will also participate in the summer placement season at IIM B campus. IIM B is mentoring the IIM Visakhapatnam for all activities including the summer internship programmes as well as final placements. IIM-Visakhapatnam’s students will be available for the internship from 3rd April to 31st May, 2017.
Summer Placement Programme at IIM B is aimed at developing the professional personality of the management graduates passing out of the institute. It intends to bridge the gap between the theoretical knowledge and real world practices of the business world by exposing students to the latter.
Talking about the summer placement season at IIMB, Ganesh Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services (CDS), IIMB, said, “The two-month summer internship has been appreciated by companies visiting the campus as it provides necessary professional exposure, making our graduates ideal candidates for taking up a range of challenging managerial roles.”
On similar lines, Sapna Agarwal, Head of Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore, said, “Many organizations use the SIP as an opportunity for an in-depth assessment of our students and often extend Pre-placement Offers (PPOs) to their summer interns. Every year approximately 150 PPOs are made to the interning students in a variety of roles such as Management Consulting, Investment Banking, Sales & Marketing, Product Management and Supply Chain Management,”
The completion of summer placement interviews will be followed up with final Placement Interviews for the PGP batch of 2015-17 over the next few months. All of 410 students are expected to participate in the final placement interviews at IIMB campus.
