Soon a new revolution will come abreast in lieu to IIT class room content. National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL)which is an initiative by IITs and ministry of human resource development is gaming up for an offering of one thousand two hundred courses via online latest by December.
The idea is to offer that many courses , so that a student can study civil engineering or mechanical engineering at free of cost. The student can easily sit at home and stream videos from You Tube.
At present, National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning, NPTEL offers around four fifty courses across various disciplines. All these courses follow the common national curriculum on engineering courses.
YouTube Education was launched in the year 2009 and since then has been actively looking for partners in India for the last two quarters. It aalready has entered into a partnership with IITs and Gujarat University.
NPTEL offers its courses free of cost, however, its faculty members get an honorarium of up to Rs two point five lakh for a course. NPTEL was launched in the year 2003.
